These Terms of Service govern your use of ClicksLab's URL shortening service. Please read them carefully.

Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to ClicksLab. By accessing or using our website (clickslab.io) and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and ClicksLab ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using our Service, you represent that:

  • You are at least 16 years of age (or the legal age in your jurisdiction)
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
  • You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations
  • All information you provide is accurate and truthful

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

Description of Service

ClicksLab provides a URL shortening platform with the following features:

  • URL Shortening: Convert long URLs into shorter, more manageable links
  • Custom Aliases: Create branded short links with custom back-halves (e.g., clickslab.io/mycampaign)
  • Analytics: Track click data including geographic location, device type, referrer, and timestamps
  • QR Code Generation: Automatically generate QR codes for shortened links with customization options
  • Link Management: View, edit, and delete your shortened links through a dashboard

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

Account Registration

3.1 Creating an Account

To access certain features, you must create an account by providing:

  • A valid email address
  • A username
  • A secure password

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.

3.2 Account Security

You agree to:

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Not share your account credentials with others
  • Notify us immediately at [email protected] of any unauthorized access
  • Accept responsibility for all actions taken through your account

We are not liable for losses arising from unauthorized use of your account if you fail to maintain proper security.

3.3 Account Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting [email protected]. Upon termination:

  • Your shortened links will continue to work for 30 days
  • Your account data will be deleted after 90 days
  • Analytics data will be anonymized and may be retained for statistical purposes

Acceptable Use Policy

You agree to use ClicksLab only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may NOT use the Service to:

Prohibited Activities

  • Malicious Content: Distribute malware, viruses, trojans, ransomware, or any harmful software
  • Phishing: Create links that impersonate legitimate organizations or attempt to steal credentials
  • Spam: Send unsolicited bulk messages, spam emails, or automated messages
  • Illegal Content: Link to illegal content including child sexual abuse material, pirated content, or illegal drugs
  • Harassment: Facilitate harassment, bullying, stalking, or threats
  • Fraud: Engage in fraudulent schemes, scams, or deceptive practices
  • Copyright Infringement: Link to content that infringes intellectual property rights
  • Hate Speech: Promote violence, hatred, or discrimination based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
  • Service Abuse: Circumvent rate limits, attempt to overload our systems, or reverse engineer our platform
  • Misleading Links: Disguise destination URLs to trick users into clicking malicious or unwanted content

We reserve the right to investigate and remove any links that violate this policy. Repeated violations may result in permanent account suspension without refund.

Service Plans and Limits

5.1 Free Plan

Our free plan includes:

  • Link Limit: 50 shortened links per month
  • Analytics Retention: 30 days of click data
  • QR Codes: Basic QR code generation
  • Link Expiration: Links remain active indefinitely unless deleted
  • Support: Email support with 48-72 hour response time

Monthly limits reset on the first day of each calendar month (UTC timezone).

5.2 Service Modifications

We may introduce premium plans with higher limits and additional features in the future. Free plan limits may be adjusted with 30 days' notice via email and website announcement.

5.3 Fair Use Policy

Even within plan limits, we reserve the right to throttle or suspend accounts that exhibit abnormal usage patterns or abuse the Service. Examples include:

  • Creating hundreds of links in a short time period (automated abuse)
  • Generating excessive API requests
  • Using the Service to test or attack other systems

Intellectual Property

6.1 ClicksLab's Rights

All rights, title, and interest in ClicksLab (including our website, software, logos, trademarks, and content) are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights.

You may not:

  • Copy, modify, or create derivative works of our Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble our software
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Use our trademarks without written permission

6.2 Your Content

You retain ownership of the URLs you submit and the data you create. By using our Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to:

  • Store and process your URLs to provide the Service
  • Display analytics data to you
  • Use aggregated, anonymized data for service improvement

This license terminates when you delete your links or account (subject to retention policies in our Privacy Policy).

6.3 DMCA Compliance

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe a shortened link infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA notice to [email protected] with:

  • Identification of the copyrighted work
  • The infringing short link URL
  • Your contact information
  • A statement of good faith belief
  • Your electronic or physical signature

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ClicksLab disclaims all warranties, including:

  • Merchantability: We do not guarantee the Service is suitable for your particular purpose
  • Availability: We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure operation
  • Accuracy: We do not guarantee analytics data is 100% accurate
  • Fitness for Purpose: We do not guarantee the Service meets your specific requirements

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be available 24/7/365
  • Bugs or errors will be corrected
  • The Service is free from viruses or harmful components
  • Your data will never be lost (though we make backups)

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so these limitations may not apply to you.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLICKSLAB SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.

This includes damages for:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
  • Loss of data or analytics information
  • Downtime or service interruptions
  • Cost of substitute services
  • Reputation damage
  • Personal injury or emotional distress

Our total liability for any claims related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of:

  • $100 USD, or
  • The amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim

These limitations apply even if:

  • We knew or should have known about the possibility of damages
  • A remedy fails of its essential purpose
  • The damages result from our negligence

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for personal injury or incidental/consequential damages, so these limitations may not fully apply to you.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ClicksLab, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights (including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights)
  • Content you link to through shortened URLs
  • Your violation of applicable laws or regulations
  • Any claim that your content caused harm to another party

We reserve the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification, and you agree to cooperate with our defense of such claims. You may not settle any claim without our prior written consent.

This indemnification obligation survives termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.

Termination

11.1 Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting [email protected] or using the account deletion feature in your dashboard. Termination is effective immediately.

11.2 Termination by ClicksLab

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately, without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy
  • Your account is used for illegal activities
  • We are required to do so by law or court order
  • Your account poses a security risk to our systems or users
  • You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior

We will attempt to notify you via email before termination unless prohibited by law or if immediate action is required for security reasons.

11.3 Effects of Termination

Upon termination of your account:

  • Your access to the Service is immediately revoked
  • Your shortened links will continue working for 30 days (unless terminated for Terms violations)
  • Your account data will be deleted according to our Privacy Policy
  • You lose access to analytics data after the retention period
  • All provisions of these Terms that should survive (indemnification, warranties, liability limitations) remain in effect

Governing Law

12.1 Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal action or proceeding related to these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in [Your Jurisdiction], and you consent to personal jurisdiction in such courts.

12.2 Dispute Resolution

12.3 Waiver of Class Actions

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • Notify you via email (if you have an account) or prominent website notice
  • For material changes, provide at least 30 days' notice before taking effect

Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the Service and may request account deletion.

We will maintain a changelog of significant Terms updates available upon request.
